The Paperback Exchange, a used books store, opened in 1979. In the basement was one of Scarborough’s hidden jewels: Ron’s Comic Room.

In 2000, the store was bought by its long-time employee, Troy, and renamed The Comic Room. Over the pandemic it became a comics-only store — and then in December 2023, under new ownership of long-time customers, the Scarborough Comic Room was born.

After over 40 years, it is not only Toronto’s second-oldest comic book store, but Scarborough’s last dedicated comic book store.
